ANALYSIS. SPRING SOWING SEASON - 2025: UKRAINE KEEPS UP THE PACE, AND ODESA REGION IS A LEADER AMONG LEADERS.

Add to favourites

🔱Ukrainian agrarians are confidently moving towards the completion of the spring sowing campaign - 9.54 million hectares of spring crops have already been sown, which is 72% of the planned volumes. Despite all the wartime challenges, this figure is not just a number. It is about strength, endurance and unwavering faith in the future.

This year, the company plans to plant 5.68 million hectares under spring grains and pulses. We have already sown 76% of the forecast. The most active crops are peas (96%), oats (96%), barley (94%) and wheat (93%). At the same time, some crops, such as millet (18%) and buckwheat (79%), are showing slower sowing rates, which is likely due to weather fluctuations or market priorities.

The technical group of crops shows extremely important dynamics - 5.22 million hectares of the 7.94 million hectares planned (66%) have been sown. Sugar beet producers have been particularly active, with 99% of areas already under cultivation. As for sunflower, the situation is still in progress: 69% of the plan has been fulfilled, but the projected planted area has increased by 182 thsd ha to over 5 mln ha. Dnipropetrovska, Kirovohradska and Poltavska oblasts are the leaders in terms of pace.

This year's corn sowing campaign is also gaining momentum, with 2.92 mln ha planted, which is 72.6% of the forecast. Poltava region is the undisputed leader (423.2 thou hectares), while in some regions, particularly in the east and west of the country, the area remains low due to objective security or climate factors.

🤝 Soybeans are a special pride of this spring.
Despite the decline in the annual forecast (2.41 million hectares versus 2.63 million hectares in 2024), the sowing pace is incredible: 1.35 million hectares have already been planted, 56% more than last year on the same date. Ternopil region was a real discovery, where the area under soybeans almost doubled. Cherkasy and Khmelnytsky regions are not far behind, showing an increase of over 85 thou hectares. There is a clear agricultural optimism amid economic turbulence.

🌾 And against the backdrop of this national picture, it shines example of Odesa region.
The region's farmers have already sown 92.3 thousand hectares of spring grains and pulses, one of the highest figures in Ukraine. These are not just numbers - they are the result of the titanic work of every farmer who, despite the air raids and challenges at the front, goes out into the field and sows for the sake of the future.

📍 In particular:
🫛 peas - 51.9 thou hectares
🌱 barley - 30.1 thou hectares
🌾 wheat - 5.8 thou hectares
🌾 oats - 1.3 thou hectares

🌻 Farmers in Odesa region also actively joined the all-Ukrainian sunflower sowing campaign, demonstrating not only dynamics but also strategic thinking about the most profitable crops of the season.

💛💙 This spring is not just about sowing. It is about faith. It is about hope. It is about everyone who creates a victory harvest with a shovel, tractor or seeder. And among all the regions, Odesa region confidently holds the line of the agricultural front, showing an example of how labour, love for the native land and unbreakable spirit can sprout the seeds of the future.

Because where they sow, there will be rye. Where they work, there will be bread. And where they hold on, there will be Ukraine. 🌾🇺🇦
