TECHNOLOGIES THAT CHANGE THE WORLD: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN AGRICULTURE

Add to favourites

On 22 October, a landmark event for agrarian science and business took place - the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. SCIENCE. BUSINESS", organised by the Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the State Institution "Institute of Market and Economic and Environmental Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine". The event brought together scientists, business representatives and government agencies to discuss innovations and opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI) in the agricultural sector.

The conference began with the signing of an important cooperation agreement between the directors of the organising institutions, Raisa Vozhegova and Boris Burkinsky. This step laid the foundation for a future fruitful partnership in the development of innovations in the agricultural sector. Both leaders addressed the conference participants with inspirational words, emphasising the importance of scientific cooperation in addressing current challenges.

Raisa Vozhegova said: "Today we are taking an important step towards sustainable agricultural development. The use of artificial intelligence allows us to obtain accurate data, optimise agricultural processes and respond to climate change. This is not just innovation - it is our future!"

Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of digital transformation of the agricultural sector and the introduction of AI as a tool to improve production efficiency. Mykhailo Malkov, FAO Advisor in Ukraine, also drew attention to the global aspect of using new technologies to address food security issues.

During the plenary session, her ideas were shared by Alla STOYANOVAHead of the Agrarian Odesa Region parliamentary group. She emphasised the role of innovation in the agricultural sector and the importance of implementing digital solutions to ensure sustainable development: *"Artificial intelligence is already changing the approach to agricultural production. We can accurately predict yields, control soil quality and save resources. This opens up huge prospects for Ukrainian farmers. We must actively use scientific knowledge and technology to restore and modernise the agricultural sector. Artificial intelligence is a bridge that leads us to an agricultural future where every hectare of land works to its full potential with minimal environmental impact."

Scientists from various institutions also presented informative reports. In particular, Oleksii DANCHUK presented "Digital Transformation of Ukraine's Agricultural Sector in the Context of Climate Change", drawing attention to the impact of AI on accurate forecasting of climate conditions and smart resource management.

Oleksiy Danchuk said: *"Thanks to digital technologies, we can adapt agricultural production to climate change, minimise risks and increase yields. Digital transformation is not only a path to competitiveness, but also to environmental sustainability."

Another outstanding presentation was made by Pavlo Lykhovyd, who spoke on Artificial Intelligence: the essence of technology and its practical implementation in agricultural science and practice. He explained how AI can optimise agricultural production, analyse large amounts of data and develop more efficient crop cultivation strategies. Lykhovyd noted that these technologies can reduce the influence of the human factor and improve the management of agricultural processes.

The conference has become a space for experience exchange and a platform for developing new scientific ideas and cooperation between business and scientific institutions. The introduction of artificial intelligence into the agricultural sector opens up new horizons for increasing the efficiency, competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural production.

This event clearly showed that the future of the agricultural sector lies in science and innovation, and artificial intelligence is becoming a key tool for its implementation.
