🇺🇦🌾NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR UKRAINE: A FORUM UNITING INVESTORS AND IDEAS

On 24 May 2025, the city of Bolgrad hosted II International Bessarabian Economic Forumwhich brought together representatives of government, business, investors and experts from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Turkey and Norway. The event became a key platform for discussing strategies for the region's development under martial law and planning further joint actions in peacetime.

📣Key sectors of discussion:

✔️ Agriculture: consideration of innovative approaches to agricultural production and strategies for the development of the agricultural sector.

✔️ Tourism: discussion of the region's potential for agricultural and cultural tourism development.

✔️ Energy: analysis of the possibilities of introducing renewable energy sources and energy efficient technologies.

✔️ Infrastructure and logistics: planning for the modernisation of transport and logistics infrastructure to improve market access.

✔️ IT sector: studying the possibilities of business digitalisation and implementation of modern technologies in various industries.

✔️Підприємництво and social projects: discussing support for small and medium-sized businesses and social initiatives.

✔️ Ecology and industrial parks: addressing environmental issues and creating industrial parks to stimulate economic growth.

📄Signed memoranda:
During the forum, a number of memorandums of cooperation were signed between Ukrainian communities and international partners aimed at attracting investment, developing infrastructure and supporting the agricultural sector.

📊Alla Stoyanova's speech was one of the key moments of the forum, who provided an in-depth analysis of the state of the agricultural sector and shared her own developments of mechanisms for its development. Moderator of the section agriculture Ivan Petriv noted that Alla Stoyanova's speech was very powerful and became an example of professional analytics.

Alla Stoyanova emphasises that "Global challenges - climate change, market volatility, geopolitical tensions - are fundamentally changing the rules of the game for the agricultural sector. In these conditions, agribusiness needs not only adaptation but also a deep transformation: innovation, sustainable practices and strategic thinking are becoming not just an advantage but a condition for survival and growth. As an agrarian country, Ukraine has every chance not only to withstand these challenges but also to set a new vector of development on the global agricultural scene. Key mechanisms development of the agricultural sector Ukraine in the face of modern challenges:

  1. Innovative technologies
    Implementation of smart farming, precision farming systems, automation and digital platforms for agribusiness management.
  2. Irrigation development and climate change adaptation
    Modernisation and expansion of irrigation infrastructure, use of water-saving technologies, development of climate-oriented agriculture.
  3. Government support and grant programmes
    Provision of subsidies, compensation, access to preferential loans, and national and international grants for agricultural producers.
  4. Diversification of production and sales markets
    Transitioning from a raw material model to value-added production, developing niche crops, and searching for new markets outside Europe.
  5. Deepening international cooperation
    Participation in global agricultural forums, creation of joint projects with foreign investors, and memoranda of cooperation with international organisations.
  6. Education and training
    Development of agricultural education, creation of applied training programmes, involvement of young people in the agricultural sector through internship and mentoring programmes.
  7. Infrastructure development
    Improving logistics, storage and processing of agricultural products, supporting the creation of agro-clusters and industrial parks.
  8. Financial and tax stability
    Transparent taxation system, agricultural risk insurance, protection of investors and small farms.

These mechanisms form an integral ecosystem for the recovery and growth of the Ukrainian agricultural sector - even in the face of war and global threats," Alla Andriyivna said.

In her speech, Ms Alla Stoyanova also presented an analysis of prices for major crops, noting trends in global markets and emphasising the importance of Ukrainian farmers adapting to these changes. She shared the best global practices of overcoming challenges and development that can be implemented in the Ukrainian context.

The II International Bessarabian Economic Forum confirmed the importance of such events for establishing international cooperation, sharing experience and attracting investment.
