📌 Guidelines for craft dairy producers: flexible approaches to safety and quality of production were approved.
On 8 May, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine approved new Guidelines for compliance with the requirements of legislation on safety and certain food quality indicators for small dairy producers and farms. This is an important step for the development of the craft dairy industry, which is rapidly gaining momentum in Ukraine.
🔍 What do these Guidelines provide for?
The guidelines are developed in accordance with Article 33 of the Law of Ukraine "On Basic Principles and Requirements for Food Safety and Quality" and are aimed at:
✔️Первинних milk producers, including small farms;
✔️Малі milk processing facilities** that operate in a craft production format;
✔️Операторів market, who want to implement or adapt the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points control at critical points).
📎 These guidelines do not replace legislation, but allow for flexible adaptation of the requirements to the actual functioning of small businesses. The document was created in cooperation with market operators' associations and industry associations, and therefore it takes into account the specifics of work on the ground as much as possible.
🔧 The guidelines include:
✔️ Good Manufacturing Practices;
✔️ Tips for controlling hazards;
✔️ Examples of hygiene procedures;
✔️ Possibility to apply HACCP principles in a simplified form for small facilities.
