PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF LANDOWNERS: A STEP TOWARDS JUSTICE

Add to favourites

An important step has been taken in Ukraine to protect the rights of owners of land shares. Thanks to the adoption of Law No. 3993-IX, the deadline for registering ownership of unclaimed land shares has been extended until 2028. This is not just a technical solution - it is an act of care for those who, due to life circumstances, did not have time or were unable to exercise their right to land.

Previously, the deadline for registering ownership of land shares was set for 2025. Now, under the updated legislation, the owners and their heirs have three additional years. This will allow many citizens, including those who are abroad or have difficult life circumstances, to return to their land and dispose of it at their own discretion. At the same time, the law stipulates that if the ownership of the shares is not registered by 1 January 2028, it will be considered that the owner has abandoned his land plot.

This decision gave the owners the time and opportunity not only to complete the paperwork, but also to rethink the importance of land in their lives. Land is not just a resource, it is our home, our history, our connection to generations.

Member of the Odesa Regional Council Alla Stoyanovawhich always advocates preserving the land potential of Odesa region and Ukraine as a whole, commented on the law:

"This decision is a voice of justice for thousands of Ukrainian families. Land is more than hectares or borders on a map. It is the memory of our ancestors, it is the dreams of the future for our children. At a time of war, when we are fighting for every piece of our Ukraine, this is especially important. The extension of the term is an opportunity for our people to return to their roots, to their land. I urge everyone who has not yet registered their rights not to waste time. The land is waiting for you because it is your strength."

This law is yet another example of how Ukraine, even in difficult times, is doing everything it can to preserve the rights of its citizens. Land has always been and will always be our greatest asset, and its owners are the ones who shape the future of our country.
