SAVE THE HONEY GOLD OF ODESA REGION

Add to favourites

We live in a world where every creature, even the smallest, plays a unique role. Bees, these little workers of nature, not only provide us with sweet honey, but also ensure that plants are pollinated, which is essential for our crops and the diversity of our flora. They are the invisible heroes of our environment who deserve our care and protection.

Today, we face a serious threat - the poisoning of bees by pesticides and other chemicals. This problem not only reduces the amount of honey, but also threatens the ecological balance, the stability of our agricultural sector and food security.

We asked Alla STOIANOVA, head of the Agrarian Odesa Oblast parliamentary group, for clarification on combating bee poisoning.

"Beekeeping is not only about producing honey, but also an important part of the ecosystem that provides pollination for many crops. However, recently, there have been more and more cases of bee poisoning from pesticides and other chemicals used in agriculture. In order to protect bees and prevent poisoning, certain rules and procedures must be followed. Please note that there are several steps to take to prevent bee poisoning:

  1. Registration of an apiary:
The first thing every beekeeper should do is register their apiary and get a passport. This document confirms the legality of the apiary and allows you to receive protection and support from the state in case of problems. An apiary passport is also required to participate in beekeeping support programmes.
  2. Contacting the commission in case of poisoning
If a beekeeper suspects bee poisoning, he or she should immediately file a complaint with the relevant commission. This is an important step, as timely reporting allows for an investigation to be initiated and prevent the problem from spreading further.
  3. Actions of the commission to establish the fact of poisoning
After receiving the application, the commission begins an investigation. It establishes the causes of bee poisoning and takes samples for laboratory tests.
  4. Laboratory tests
The samples are sent to a laboratory where tests are carried out to determine the cause of the poisoning. Laboratory results are key to establishing the fact of poisoning and help identify the culprits.

Conservation of bees is of great importance for the ecosystem and agriculture. Bees play a key role in the pollination of many crops, which affects crop yields and plant diversity. Bee poisoning not only reduces honey production but also threatens ecosystem stability. Every bee that collects nectar makes our world a better place. Let's take care of them, because they make life as we know it possible," says Alla Stoyanova.
