Published for public discussion Draft Strategy for the Conservation of Biological Diversity of Ukraine until 2035<\/strong> - a document that for the first time systematically answers the question:
\ud83d\udc49 how to restore the country so as not to lose its wildlife forever.
It is about the quality of life of people, the resilience of communities, food security and the climate future of Ukraine.
\ud83d\udca5 The war has already caused large-scale damage to ecosystems:
<\/strong>- the destroyed steppes of the South
- damaged coastal areas
- The marshes and aquatic ecosystems of the North are under threat
- Rare species of flora and fauna suffer
That is why the Strategy proposes a new approach - to restore ecosystems as the basis of the economy and security of the state.
\ud83d\udccc Among the key objectives of the Strategy:
<\/strong>\u2714\ufe0f stop biodiversity loss
\u2714\ufe0f restore key ecosystems
\u2714\ufe0f integrate nature conservation into all sectors of the economy
\u2714\ufe0f increase community resilience to climate risks
\u2714\ufe0f make green recovery part of state policy
Important: the document was developed for almost a year with the participation of the government, scientists, international experts, NGOs and UNDP.
The strategy is aligned with Ukraine's global environmental commitments and the European approach to nature conservation.
\ud83d\udde3 And now the key word is society.
<\/strong>The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine has opened a public discussion and calls on all concerned to join in.
\ud83d\udce9 The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine is looking forward to receiving proposals and comments on the draft Biodiversity Strategy within 30 days at o.blazhevych@me.gov.ua
This is a rare moment when the opinions of experts, communities and businesses can really influence public policy.
